“Without ever having met Pete, I e-mailed him to see if he could produce, mix and master my 5-song EP within the following few weeks. His prompt, professional and personal response, followed by a couple of phone calls to talk through what I wanted and how the process would work, impressed me immediately. He committed himself fully to the process, even though he was very busy with other projects on at the same time, fitting in time to record the different artists I was collaborating with, in different locations, as needed to align with everyone’s schedules. His technical skills are superb and his equipment is top notch, but what impressed me most was Pete’s attitude and philosophy around his job. He just wants to “get out of the way of the song” and show your ideas in their best light, giving gentle and very helpful suggestions along the way to help you with that objective. I’m really proud of the recordings that came out of this process, and it’s hard to imagine having done them with anyone else. I really can’t recommend Pete enough.”

“Last year, I set an ultimate goal for myself: create an album of my original songs. I didn't care if it took years to do; the only requirement was that it has to be the kind of quality of which I can be proud for the rest of my life.

As such, I was in no hurry to find a producer. It only mattered that I found the right one to bring this dream to life. As life would have it, I met Pete, and we had our first session yesterday.

From our brief conversation at the beginning, he was able to determine exactly what I need from him, musically and emotionally, in order to create this album - including often overlooked factors like the studio being a safe space where the artist can feel vulnerable, trusted, respected, creative in new and weird ways - and even though we were only scheduled for three, we spend the next nine hours creating, laughing, learning and putting all that energy into the music.

The Dreams Loft isn't just a name that Pete slapped on the business - it truly describes his personal mission to make the dreams of other artists come true. I was honestly floored not only by his passion but how incredible his skills are. I don't think I realized what could truly be possible - technically, sonically - with my album until he showed me.

“Myself and Pete began construction on my EP at the beginning of last summer, after months of planning and scheming. The following 3-4 months were filled with coffee, laughs, pep talks, brainstorming, expression and a sort of creative symbiosis.
It never mattered what kind of week he was having, I was always greeted with the same smiley "Maaate!" and an offer of a cup of the good stuff every time he opened the door.
We put in some long days here and there but Pete's enthusiasm never faltered. His desire to improve and his hunger to learn meant he entered every session energised and excited and it rubbed off on me both in the studio and in my personal life.
Pete is both exceptionally creative and militarily organised, a combination that's hard to come by and he has been one of the most positive influences on my life over the last two years.

Did Vocals, Guitar, saxophone and not a small amount of acting in 2 hours... Highly efficient went from recording at whisper volume to full on belting with very little turn around. Very cosy setup as well. We even had enough time for tea!

“As a travelling musician, what I needed was high quality audio and video engineering to highlight what I do on a tight timeframe (ie: fast turnaround) to provide exposure while I'm on the road - and at a price that doesn't break my vagabond troubadour budget.

“Saying that meeting and working with Pete in The Dreams Loft was the highlight of my 3.5 week stay in Ireland is an understatement. If you had told me before I left Manhattan on December 2 that in less than ten days' time I'd be sitting in a Galway home studio talking, writing, and singing (!) with a very talented and caring musician, I would've ordered you a pint to congratulate you on your preposterous imagination. I'd never recorded my voice singing, and despite all my writing experience, I'd never written a song. And yet, that's exactly what happened upon my arrival in Galway. On Tuesday, I met Pete Duffy in Cafe Express, and we exchanged pleasantries at first. But after just a few minutes, the conversation electrified, we uncovered similar obstacles in creating our art--his, music and mine, writing. In a direct and caring invitation, he offered me his services; we would write a song together to explore the obstacles that we both faced. He invited me to The Dreams Loft, and magic ensued. Working with Pete over two sessions unlocked the writers' block I had been experiencing and introduced me to a new level of creativity that I didn't know was possible. Not only was I able to share with him much about my life and writing troubles, I was also able to capture the ennui I had been feeling in a way that empowered me to move forward. And I was also able to sing! Pete definitely created a calm and inspiring atmosphere and encouraged us both the entire time. He dedicated his time and talent all in the service of supporting my art, and that is truly a gift to be given. Most importantly, we also had FUN. His playful yet serious approach created a levity that allowed me a new perspective on my "difficulty" with writing. We had a blast. It's hard to imagine that after only a few hours and our two heads together, a new piece of art was created: our song Choose To Be Numb.
